I Am Malala

This is a intro putting in at a later date so I don't remember that much about the class. What I can tell you is this was in my MDG's class where we talk about Millennium Development Goals, And SDG's which stood for Sustainable Development Goal's. I Am Malala was a perfect fit because it follows the life of a girl struggling against the problems in her country. This is a short presentation on what the book is about.

There are Women too

“We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination” -Nelson Mandela. Gender equality effects to many to much and this is something that must be changed soon. Now in our current state we have made big changes since 100 years ago but I want to show you where we really are. For example purposes I am going to compare two countries, America and Ukraine. How far both countries are doing with domestic violence, marriage choices, and healthcare for women.

America

Domestic violence is probably the biggest problem america is facing. Of all domestic violence suffered in america 85% of victims are women. 38,028,000 women are abused everyday and 3 women die from it everyday all by current or former spouses. Marriage choice is not a problem in america. If a women does not want to marry a man than she has every right to chose not to.

Ukraine

As much as I looked I could not find any statistics on marriage choices in Ukraine, but taking into mind that Ukraine has sex trafficking I would bet that women are being forced to marry by their owner. Not only does Ukraine suffer from domestic violence but also suffer from large amounts of sex trafficking. It’s so bad that in 2007 a Ukrainian women started a hot-line called La Strada for women who are being abused. Since it’s starting calls have doubled.

What are MDG's

LM

This is my MDG's class where we talk about not only problems that affect us as people in a rich country but to speak of the issues that effect the entire world. In this post I am going to talk about what MDG's are and my thoughts on it.
___________________________________________________________________
A MDG is a issue the United Nations decided is a huge problem that they plan to solve in the next 1000 years. I think the real problem is everything based on death or pain, like poverty and hunger and sickness and so forth.
Etereuti,(2016),United Nations Flag,Pixabay

I don’t agree with much of what the UN does, but if there was one thing I had to pick it would be their plan to eliminate poverty in developing countries. To change a struggling counties It is necessary to bring in higher paying jobs inside to the people living in the poor conditions. At the same time you must not bring in jobs from places like coca cola or businesses that ruin the people in the long run.

If I was the UN I would cut the big corporate greed and regulate strict laws on what they can do. I would then create a baseline of what basic human rights are. First all people all over the world should have access to clean water along with the tools for the things that follow the use of water like cleaning of all sorts personal or environmental. People should all have the access to food 24 hours of the day. All in all I would push to my goal of eliminating the greed in the world and spreading the materials around the world.

A theme of a MDG is a subject of a problem in the world. MDG stands for all issues that must be resolved and how we can resolve them with some simple actions. Not only should all people follow what the UN says is a MDG people should follow what they think a MDG is because the only way to fix a problem is to all work together in what we think the real issue is.

Clean or Dirty Water is Water

This is my Water class at GCE lab school. In this unit we studied how to purify water and the pH scale. For our action project we had to create a filter. I had to measure the pH before and after being filtered.

For my filter I required 5 things
  • 2 plastic bottles
  • 1 mesh pad
  • Sand
  • Gravel

First I cut the top off of one of the plastic bottles so I had a place to put in the water and build the filter. I then put a mesh at the bottom to make sure that the next step will work. Then I put in the mixture of gravel and sand. I would alternate mixing and would slightly shake the bottle so the sand and gravel would mix and getting rid of air pockets. Once the bottle was full and place on top of the water catching system I began the process by pouring in the water. It took a while for water to begin to come through the bottom because the sand was not wet. Once the water began to finally filter it was apparent that my filter was as about as effective as blowing on a bonfire. The water came out with sand in it. The blue filter on the bottom did not do its job completely or effectively and let sand get though and fall into the catching

PH was 4.0 before and after the filtration process so no change was made to the acidic level of the water. This water is on the lower side of the scale which makes it questionable if you can drink it considering that 7.0 is the perfect level and this is 4.0.

With the pH of 4.0 I can convert that to H to see what the hydrogen level is. 4.0 converts to 0.0001 meaning that there is a very low amount of hydrogen inside the water also lowering the quality of the drink.
